Council
The Township operates as an organization dedicated to serving you. For the next four years, your elected Council will lead our community. It is your responsibility to elect the members that you believe can best serve the interests of the entire Township.
To serve as your Mayor, I have high expectations for myself. A leader’s true strength is found in the ability to listen as much as to speak, ensuring that councilors and community voices are heard. While the province has granted “Strong Mayor” powers to South Frontenac, I do not intend to exercise them. I am a firm believer in our local democracy; I believe that our Council is most effective when the majority rules.
No one person has all of the answers but when we work as a team with a willingness to respect different points of view, good things can happen. I want to lead a council in supporting the things we do well; there is lots to be proud of. I believe that a council, that values partnership and cooperation can help build the township that is ready for the future.
Whether it is maintaining the existing services we do well or keeping up with evolving trends that other municipalities are doing, Council has the responsibility to spend your money wisely. South Frontenac may lead in some areas or we can adopt new systems that other municipalities are using successfully.
Municipal World (a monthly publication) sees the future this way “Communities that thrive in the 21st century are the ones willing to adapt, innovate and plan with intention”.
I am up to the challenge to lead Council for the next four years.
