About Alan
Raised on a family farm in Prince Edward County, Alan learned the value of agriculture early on working with cattle, sheep and horses. After graduating from Western University with a BA in economics, he traded the classroom for the jobsite gaining hands on experience in the electrical and masonry trades in Haliburton County.
During this time, Alan’s commitment to public service took root as a volunteer firefighter and as an elected councilor serving seven years on Monmouth Township Council.
Alan’s career has been defined by a unique blend of technical skill and administrative oversight. After joining his family’s consulting practice, he spearheaded housing and infrastructure projects notably the development and construction of the Pleasant Valley Municipal Drain (Hartington) as well as the Reeds Bay Municipal Drain (Frontenac Islands). Across Eastern Ontario, Alan developed essential housing for seniors and families such as The Legion Villa in Kingston.
For 12 years Alan served as Chief Building Official for South Frontenac Township. His unique professional path also saw him serving in this capacity for North and Central Frontenac as well as Stone Mills Township to round out 24 years in building inspections. This practical experience across the entire County gives Alan an unmatched understanding of how different municipalities operate. Service on Sydney Township, South Frontenac Township and Frontenac County Councils has further strengthened his understanding of municipal needs.
As a 30-year waterfront resident, environmental stewardship is top of mind evidenced by membership in lake associations and currently a board member of the Federation of Ontario Cottagers Associations (FOCA) as well as past service with Cataraqui Conservation and Conservation Ontario. The opportunity to serve at Cataraqui Conservation and Conservation Ontario greatly expanded my my knowledge base in how conservation efforts protect the environment we value so much.
Alan’s background provides the unique perspective and proven experience needed to lead South Frontenac Township as your next Mayor
